Coventry City Centre

Coventry’s Heritage Open Days 2016 got underway yesterday and there will be a host of events across the city running throughout the weekend.

Heritage Open Days was established in 1994 as England’s contribution to European Heritage Days. This event now incorporates 39 countries across Europe, all proudly showing off their history and wide range of cultures and architecture. This allows free access to participating venues that are not normally open to the public or would normally charge an entrance fee.

Heritage Open Days in Coventry is organised by Coventry City Council. The event is co-ordinated and hosted nationally by the National Trust with co-funding from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

This four day event celebrates England’s local history, architecture and culture, enabling visitors free access to participating properties that are not usually open to the public or would normally charge an entrance fee.

Also included are tours and activities put on especially for the event, all made possible thanks to the support of hundreds of volunteers who give their time freely.
