Coventry Sports Foundation Offers Children’s Activities for Christmas Holidays

4 min read

A Coventry sports and leisure provider will be spreading festive joy to youngsters with a series of entertaining activities.

Coventry Sports Foundation has a packed programme of sports, games and events that will be taking place in in the holidays during the run up to Christmas Day.

The organisation’s three venues – the Alan Higgs Centre in Allard Way, Centre AT7 in Bell Green Road and the Xcel Leisure Centre in Mitchell Avenue – will be hosting sessions to keep children busy before December 25.

Yuletide-themed events will be going ahead including Christmas crafts, carol singing and party games as well as sports such as dodgeball, trampolining, football and much more.

Aimed at children aged between five and 11-years-old, sessions will be taking place from Monday, December 19 until Friday, December 23 at Centre AT7 and Xcel Leisure Centre and between Monday, December 19 and Wednesday, December 21 at the Alan Higgs Centre.

Wendy Jackson, community development manager at Coventry Sports Foundation, said the sessions were perfect for parents who wanted to get some last minute festive shopping done or for those who had to work.

“Coventry Sports Foundation’s holiday activities are a fun and convenient way to keep children entertained during the countdown to Christmas,” Wendy said.

“The events will be a way to keep children entertained and get some of their excitement out before Father Christmas delivers gifts for the big day.

“Not only that it is a way for young people to keep active and try out various sporting activities during the break from school.”

Both Xcel Leisure Centre and the Alan Higgs Centre will also host performing arts camps when street dance, break dance, games, and a disco will be taking place and there may even be a visit from Father Christmas.

Wendy added: “There is something to cater for all tastes and make sure that children can get involved and make some holiday memories.

“But the schemes always prove very popular, so I would advise those who are interested to reserve their children’s place now in order to avoid disappointment.”

All children need to be suitably dressed for all of the activities, and have plenty of drinks and a packed lunch for all day sessions.
